Agility 2: Contacts and Weaves

Agility - Basic I: Contacts and Weaves:
 

Prerequisite: Introduction to Agility – ALL dogs must have a reliable recall and be able to work off leash in a room with distractions.

 

Class Overview: Continue work from the Introduction to Agility class.  Jumping skills will be introduced and worked on as well as short sequences.

ContactsDogs will be introduced to all contact equipment; A-frame, dog walk, and teeter, with focus on how to correctly perform contact bottoms.

Weaves: The 2x2 method of weaving will be used to teach finding weave entrances, having handler on either side of the weaves and successfully working through 6 weave poles.

Graduation: A-frame, teeter, and dog-walk will be successful at FULL height with confidence: emphasis will be on correctly performing contact bottoms. Dogs will run willingly through curved tunnels and are able to sequence 3-4 obstacles. Teams will be able to successfully perform wraps,  front, blind and rear crosses Dogs should be able to perform 6 upright weaves 80% of the time with the handler on either side of the weaves.
