Agility 1 : Introduction to Agility – Flatwork

Pre-requisite

The successful completion of Manners Obedience, or having obtained a Canine Good Citizenship elsewhere.

Class Overview

This class will focus on the flatwork necessary to build skills and prepare teams to enter the world of agility.  Dogs and handlers will learn shadowing, hand touches, targets, off leash recalls on both sides, and start line stays.  Ladder and brick work will be used to help the dog develop rear end awareness.  Tunnel work, walking on flat boards, and contact bottoms will be introduced. Cones and jump stanchions will be used to teach flatwork handling skills such as sends, wraps, post turns, and switches.

Graduation Requirements

Dogs must be able to exhibit basic foundation skills mentioned above.
